Nikkei press estimated 2013 gasoline market share in Japan. According to it, 5.542 million kL gasoline was sold in Japan, in 2013. The sales volume decreased by 1.8% from 2012. JX Nippon Oil & Energy "ENEOS" was the top supplier (34%). The main stock holder of Tonen General (2nd place, "Esso", "Mobil") is Exxon Mobil. 3rd place Showa Shell is a member of Royal Dutch Shell group.
2014 Dec 21 update: Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported that Idemitsu has started merger talks with Showa Shell.
