A drug store "MatsumotoKiyoshi" was the biggest chain in 2013, according to the research by Nikkei newspaper. Its market share was 8.2%, followed by Sundrug (7.5%), Tsuruha (6.5%), Cosmos (6.2%), and Sugi (6.1%). The total sales of 2013 were 6 trillion yen, increased 1.2% from 2012. It is one third of the sales of supermarket's.
