According to 2010 statistics conducted by Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the life expectancy of a Japanese person is 79.59 years for men, 86.35 years for women. The following figures show the life expectancy by prefecture in Japan. The life expectancy is high in red prefectures, and low in blue prefectures. For both of men and women, Nagano has the highest expectancy figures. Meanwhile, Aomori has the lowest expectancy figures for both genders.
