Feb 1st updated
Tokyo Metropolitan government announced this season's prediction about the pollen dispersion of cedar and cypress. Fortunately it is not going to be severe this year.
Possible start date of pollen dispersion :
Probably the pollen dispersion starts during Feb 13-17, earlier than usual. The mean date of the last decade was Feb 16.
Prediction about the amount of pollen
Expected to be 30%-40% of the last year, 40%-60% of the last decade's average.
Prediction about the number of "massive pollen dispersion days"
When 30 pollens/cm2 per day is observed, the day is called "massive dispersion day." The number of massive dispersion day is expected to be approximately 25 days this year as usual.
Table:Prediction about the amount of pollen in Tokyo
Observation point | Min-Max. | of 2013 | of the last decade's average |
Chiyoda | 2,159 - 2,921 | (0.36 - 0.48) | (0.53 - 0.72) |
Katsushika | 1,619 - 2,191 | (0.30 - 0.40) | (0.52 - 0.70) |
Suginami | 2,138 - 2,892 | (0.38 - 0.52) | (0.44 - 0.60) |
Kita | 2,168 - 2,933 | (0.40 - 0.55) | (0.54 - 0.73) |
Ota | 2,644 - 3,577 | (0.59 - 0.80) | (0.61 - 0.82) |
Ome | 4,390 - 5,940 | (0.19 - 0.25) | (0.34 - 0.46) |
Hachioji | 3,039 - 4,111 | (0.17 - 0.23) | (0.33 - 0.45) |
Machida | 2,461 - 3,329 | (0.20 - 0.27) | (0.38 - 0.51) |
Kodaira | 1,777 - 2,404 | (0.32 - 0.44) | (0.48 - 0.65) |
Average | 2,488 - 3,366 | (0.26 - 0.35) | (0.43 - 0.58) |
It is by the number of pollens caught per one square centimeter on the glass.
Ome and Hachioji are located in a mountain side, they suffer much pollen. Kodaira is not so far from the mountain side. I have no idea why Kodaira has less number.
