Nikkei press reported the detergent market share in Japan. According to the research, big 3 trios (Kao, Lion, P&G) oligopolies the detergent market in Japan. The market share of those three was 94.3% in 2013.
The total sales in 2013 were 191.7 billion yen. The 2013 sales increased by 2.1% from 2012.
I think most of Japanese do not know that P&G stands for Procter & Gamble. P&G Japan uses "P&G" as their brand name. Maybe it is hard to remember English names. I have not heard the word "Procter & Gamble" in my daily life, but heard "P&G" many times.
