An IT company "名字由来 (Myoji yurai) net" researches Japanese surnames, and released their research about surnames in Tokyo. According to it, the most common surname in Tokyo is 鈴木 (Suzuki). Some of you might know a New York Yankees baseball player Ichiro Suzuki. His surname is most common in Tokyo. (But he is not from Tokyo, but from Aichi prefecture.)
The researcher says, the trend of Tokyo's ranking is similar to the nationwide ranking.
