Egg Consumption by Year in Japan

Chicken eggs are basic protein sources for Japanese people. An average Japanese eats 16.7 kg (36.8 pounds) of eggs a year. From 1960 to 1970, egg consumption rapidly increased. Since then, increasing pace has been moderate. At 1991, egg consumption reached to the flat level. Probably 17 kg is our limit volume of egg consumption.
