Beef Consumption by Year in Japan

The average Japanese eats 5.9 kg of beef a year. 50 years ago, beef consumption per capita was only 1 kg. In long time trend, beef consumption is increasing. But from 2000s, beef consumption dropped from 7.6 kg to 5.9 kg.

Beef is relatively expensive. So, I think people became not to buy beef much, because of economic recession.
