How Many Registered Dogs in Japan?
Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare conducts surveys of registered dogs every year. In Japan, owners have to register their dogs to the local office in order to prevent rabies. According to the survey in 2012, approximately 6,800,000 dogs are registered. Tokyo has most registered dogs (510,000 dogs).
