Imported DVD = 687 yen ($6.87 €5.28)

I bought an imported DVD, Mighty Hercules for 687 yen ($6.87 €5.28) through Amazon.co.jp. It is the US version (region code 1) so I can not play it with my DVD player which plays only Japanese DVDs which have region code 2. I played Mighty Hercules with my PC, changing PC's region code. But if I changed the region code of my PC from 2 to 1, I can not play Japanese DVDs instead. It is a problem. I used to have a cheap DVD player made in China which played every type of DVDs. But unfortunately it was not reliable, was broken in a few years.
